Successful Online Event by the Hellenic Aviation Society (H.A.S.) for International Women’s Day
The Hellenic Aviation Society (H.A.S.) successfully hosted its online event titled “The Green Flight: Women Leading Sustainable Aviation”, attracting strong participation and significant interest. The event took place on Wednesday, 18 March 2026, as part of the celebration of International Women’s Day.
The event was dedicated to highlighting the crucial role of women in environmental sustainability within civil aviation, bringing forward current challenges and innovative approaches toward a greener future for the sector.
The speakers were:
- Dr. Eva Maleviti, Assistant Professor & Program Coordinator of the MSc in Aviation & Aerospace Sustainability at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University
- Dr. Georgia Lykou, Head of the Department of Environmental Regulation & Oversight, Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority
- Ms. Konstantina Chrysikopoulou, Civil Engineer (NTUA), MSc, Head of the Environmental Protection Department, Hellenic Civil Aviation Service Provider
The event opened with welcoming remarks by the Chairman of the Hellenic Aviation Society, Mr. Thanassis Binis. The discussion was moderated by Dr. Ioanna Pagoni, Assistant Professor at the University of the Aegean, and Dr. Eleni-Paraskevi Paraschi, Assistant Professor at the University of Patras, ensuring a meaningful and engaging dialogue.
The discussion was further enriched by insightful contributions from representatives of the academic and aviation communities.
The event highlighted the importance of female leadership and interdisciplinary collaboration in achieving sustainable solutions within the aviation sector.
